What makes our program unique:

At Life Beyond Barriers Rehabilitation Group, we offer a neurodevelopmental treatment approach to give your child the opportunity to learn quality movement patterns early, to enhance their motor performance and avoid development of inefficient movement patterns that may interfere with recovery and overall development. We incorporate sensory, perceptual, cognitive, and linguistic components into your child’s rehabilitation plan that are vital to development.

A collaborative approach is implemented between the rehab team, the child, and family to support development, promote quality of life, and achieve the highest level of independence. Functional goals are created to achieve necessary skills for participation in activities within the child’s home, school, and community.

Skill areas of focus may include:

  • Fine motor, grasp and release, management of utensils, manipulation of clothing fasteners, handwriting
  • Visual system skills and perception
  • Hand-eye coordination for improved play and self care
  • Progressing gross motor skills and functional mobility by addressing range of motion, strength, balance, postural control, and proximal stability
  • Motor planning and bilateral coordination
  • Sensory processing
  • Oral sensory and motor skills
  • Speech and language development
  • Attention and social skills
  • Equipment and orthotic evaluations, such as hand and wrist supports, ankle foot orthoses, bathing equipment, dressing devices, activity seats, mobility devices
