Gait and Balance Training
Whether you have experienced falls, difficulty with walking, vestibular impairment, stroke, a movement disorder, brain injury, or loss of a limb, the aftermath can affect different people in vastly different ways. That’s why we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach. We get to know the person and their story. Then we form a plan, uniquely fit to them.
You may be slow to react or have difficulty navigating uneven surfaces. Our therapists challenge the body and go through activities aimed at improving steadiness and oculomotor function, while restoring balance and peace of mind. We simulate safe real-life scenarios.
What makes our Gait and Balance Training program different:
- Activity-based therapy that retrains and promotes sensory/motor recovery
- An approach that restores balance, function, and a person’s basic wellbeing
- Interventions to improve steadiness and oculomotor function
- Therapy that prioritizes skills for daily independence and safety
- An approach centered on neurological recovery, function, and wellness, free from compensation
- Constant feedback and active communication
- Body weight support systems (BWSS) and underwater treadmill
- Evaluation for mobility devices and orthotic needs
- MyndStep functional electrical stimulation to address footdrop
If you or your loved one has experienced a difficulty with walking and balance, we have a comprehensive program, ready to help. Contact us to learn more.
After an initial evaluation by the PT / OT /SLP, we recommend a treatment plan. The plan is unique to the client—their goals and needs, plus the therapist’s findings and knowledge. The frequency and duration of therapy sessions are based on the physician’s prescription and recommended treatment plan.
All About YOU
Gait and balance disturbances can look different across the board. That’s why we don’t start with a diagnosis, but with the person. We learn about their hobbies and what they love about life. Whether it’s verbal or physical, we work toward goals with a determined mindset—always in a uniquely customized way.
